Company Swag, Yea or Nay?

Everyone likes free stuff, right? Usually the answer is yes, but when it comes to company swag, sometimes the answer depends on the quality. Most of us have a drawer full of cheap branded pens that we don’t use because they don’t work well. What if, instead of inexpensive pens, your company gave employees something a little more worthwhile? It would show your employees they are valued, while also providing some extra advertising for your company.

At AirTank, we believe that company swag also helps build a positive company culture. That’s one reason that we supply our employees with cool wearable swag, like t-shirts and the team favorite, the waffle knit pullover. We’re a small company, so employees can have a say in the style and design of swag. And because of this, on our in-office days, you’ll see at least half of us in AirTank emblazoned garb.

Now that you’ve decided it’s a great idea to give your employees quality products, you might be wondering what kind of swag to choose.

Luck for you, we’ve made this handy list.

T-shirts, golf shirts, pullovers

A well-fitting garment will be worn in and out of the office, exposing more people to your brand. Think of outfitting for the seasons - a short sleeved t-shirt for the warmer months, and a cozy pullover for the colder months. And look for brands that offer styles and cuts for men and women.

Portable Device Chargers

Are your employees using their devices on the go? By supplying them with a handy portable charger, they can be ready for anything. Look for one that will, at the very least, charge a cell phone from a fully drained state.

Water Bottles or Drink Tumblers

This sounds like a no-brainer, doesn’t it? However, there are plenty of uber-cheap options out there that should be avoided (no one wants a flimsy plastic water bottle that leaks in their gym bag!). Do a little research to make sure you are picking a quality product that will provide years of use. While you’re at it, pick up some branded reusable stainless steel straws to go with the tumblers and make the earth happy.

Backpacks or Totes

Go a step up from the reusable shopping bag and opt for a heavier duty canvas tote with your logo. Make sure it’s large enough for employees to store enough for a trip to the beach, grocery store, or library. If you have a larger budget, look for a backpack or messenger bag with a padded laptop compartment. Pair that with a portable device charger and your employees will be ready for their next business trip!

Custom Laptop Stickers or Refrigerator Magnets

If you don’t have a large budget for swag, consider purchasing laptop stickers or refrigerator magnets with your company name or logo. They’re fun and easy, and your employees will enjoy showing them off.

Overall, custom company swag plays a small part in creating a strong team culture. But making the effort to pick the right swag will create positive brand buzz and increase your employees’ connection to the company. Good luck and have fun!
